Two days ago, student Becky Hopper posted this picture of a super-skinny mannequin on display in a Topshop store in St Stephen’s Shopping Centre, Hull.
It has now been re-tweeted over 5,000 times.
Becky and her friend Georgia Bibby, the girl on the left in the picture, felt the mannequins represented an unhealthy and unrealistic body weight.
‘I have seen mannequins like this before but never this bad,” she told BuzzFeed. ‘I think it’s possibly worse in the store than it looks on that photo. It appalled me, as it’s such a poor misrepresentation of the female body and just irresponsible from a company as big as Topshop.’
