Just in case you were wondering, Vetements isn’t going anywhere.
But why would I ever doubt that fact?, you ask.
Because a couple of days ago, streetstyle bible Highsnobiety published an article citing a number of industry insiders who questioned just how profitable Demna Gvasalia’s label was.
The article stated that at first, the ‘the world went Vetements mad’, with pieces selling out as soon as they dropped; today, collections are uncreative and seem to revolve around reworked ideas – which fewer and fewer fans are willing to buy.
‘Word on the industry’s rumour mill is that the brand is on its way out, with sales slumping and customers uninterested,’ it reported.
‘The sources we spoke to all pointed to the same reasons for the brand’s slump in sales: recent collections offered no new ideas and largely consisted of reissued or reworked pieces from previous seasons, while prices were too high for the quality offered.
