
US fashion chain American Apparel loves to cause controversy with its ads.
But, for the second time, they’ve been adjudged to have gone too far by the Advertising Standards Authority.
They’ve been asked to withdraw an image of a youthful looking model in a sexualised pose for the second time in six months.
This time, the controversy centered around an image used online to sell a lip-print thong bodysuit.
One person complained to the ASA saying they believed the red-haired model looked under the age of 16 and called the brand ‘irresponsible and offensive’ for having ‘sexualised a model’ who appeared underage.
