You’re going to see janties and neon bike shorts at festivals this summer

With Coachella starting this week, festival season has officially begun.

You know what that means – it’s time to ponder festival style.

Last year flower crowns died and crystals, gems, and glitter reigned supreme, but what will be the major fashion points for this batch of festival goers?

According to Lyst, janties.

You know, janties. Jean panties. Extremely short denim shorts.

The style came to our attention thanks to Y/Project’s £235 pair, but when you think about it, denim underwear have been a long time coming. Last year we saw shorts that let a large portion of the bum cheek hang out. It’s only natural that hemlines would rise further and we’d eventually go for a full on thong effect.

(Picture: Y/Project)

And really, where else would you wear janties? A festival feels like the most appropriate option.

As part of their festival trend prediction, Lyst reckons that the virality of janties could mean they’ll pop up all over Coachella, whether in the form of the real £235 deal or a DIY version of jeans hacked away above the thigh.

Don’t panic if a denim wedgie isn’t quite your thing, though, as Lyst has also recapped some other trend predictions.

Alongside janties, anyone going to a festival (or scrolling through the #Coachella tag on Instagram) will spot nostalgic pieces, embellished detail, ugly shoes, and retro hats.

To be more specific, the nostalgia will lend itself to super-bright neon, tie-dye, and biker shorts, sometimes all in one very attention-grabbing package.

In terms of embellishment, keep an eye out for sequins, shells, and metallics. Lyst reports that searches for sequin bikinis are up 76% over the last month, while men are going for the ASOS Jacket with Cut and Sew Sequins, with a 108% increase in views over the last two weeks.

Chunky, ugly shoes remain on top, especially for those looking for comfort. Searches for rubber sandals are on the up, along with hefty trainers. Cowboy boots are also increasingly popular, thanks to the yeehaw agenda.

For headwear, expect bucket hats. Lots of bucket hats.

When is the next Sainsbury’s TU clothing 25% off sale?

After Sainsbury’s launched a 25%-off TU sale back in February, people have been left wondering when the next one might be.

The supermarket’s clothing brand TU’s last 25%-off sale happened just in time for World Book Day, with costumes included in the promotional offer.

The brand includes clothing of all sizes for men, women and children, so there’s something fro everyone.

Keen on knowing when the next TU bargains might be coming your way?

Then you’re in the right place, because we’ve got the latest on when there could be another 25% off sale on Sainsbury’s TU items.

When is the next 25% off TU clothing sale?

According to hotukdeals, there will be 25% off TU clothing and accessories, online and in-store, from April 16 right the way through Easter weekend until April 22.

Metro has contacted Sainsbury’s for confirmation on the start date but in the meantime you can take a look at what items could be on offer.

This deal will apparently include plenty of Easter clothing such as bunny slippers, T-shirts and school uniforms.

On top of that, you’d be able to enjoy these price reductions at Argos too, as they also sell TU products.

While you wait for the deals to get underway, there are discounted items offered fairly regularly in the TU clearance sales, which you can keep an eye on by visiting the official TU website or the Argos website.

Currently TU is offering some of these clothes at up to half off, so if you’re into bargains (why wouldn’t you be), then it’s really worth a look-in.

Eco-fashion is, thankfully, becoming more mainstream as brands are rethinking how to offer ethically sourced products to customers.

Some brands are more committed to ethical fashion than others. And H&M is trying to prove its commitment to the environment with its Conscious Exclusive range, which just dropped its 2019 spring collection.

Taking inspiration from the wonders of planet earth and different communities, the Swedish brand is using new, sustainable materials.

The collection is made from Piñatex (a leather alternative made from the leaves of the pineapple plant), an orange fiber textile (made from citrus peel from juice production) and bloom foam (made from algae).

Bold prints inspired by plants and trees are major features and the colour palette is inspired by healing crystals with colours including lavender, aqua blue, petrol blue and coral pink along with black, gold and silver.

You’ll have to wait until 11 April though when the line drops at all H&M stores.

Who said ethical fashion has to cost a fortune?

‘The Conscious Exclusive Spring 2019 collection is the perfect mix of glamour and effortless style,’ H&M said in a press release.

‘Inspired by the wonders of planet Earth, the collection explores the healing power and beauty of nature, while also embracing technology and innovation in the development of sustainable materials and processes, for a more sustainable fashion future.’

You can expect to see dramatic ruffles, uneven hems, cut-outs, silhouettes, v-necklines and sparkling sequins.

Other sustainable materials in the collection include recycled polyester, organic cotton, linen, and silk, recycled plastic, recycled glass, and recycled silver.

H&M wants to show customers it means business when it comes to being environmentally friendly.

The brand is said to source 57% of its materials from a sustainable resource. By 2040, H&M wants to be known as a climate positive value chain.

We can definitely get behind that.

‘Be fiercely you’: Halima Aden says it’s a great time to be a Muslim woman at International Somali Awards

Model Halima Aden hosted the fourth International Somali Awards (Picture: Ali Naji/Metro.co.uk)

Halima Aden is a 21-year-old model who was born into a refugee camp.

The American-Somali was the first hijab-wearing model to be featured on the cover of Vogue, advertise a headscarf for Nike, and be part of a Kanye West Yeezy presentation. She recently became the proud designer of 27 new headscarves.

So when Halima came to London to host the fourth annual International Somali Awards (ISA), we had to chat to her about Muslim identity and being part of the diaspora.

Where Halima is from in the US, Minnesota, has the largest Somali population and even has a museum dedicated to home and diaspora talent.

‘As a former refugee, I know firsthand the problems that the diaspora faces so to have a day like this as a celebration of the hard work and dedication that Somalis are putting in makes me so proud,’ Halima told Metro.co.uk.

‘I’ve had a great experience modelling so far, it’s been scary too, I took a risk being the first Muslim woman to do x, y, z. It’s scary to go into the unknown but now seeing so many girls enter the fashion industry wearing the hijab, it’s amazing.’

Halima Aden says its an exciting time to be a Muslim woman at ISA
(Picture: Ali Naji)

After featuring on the cover of Vogue Arabia with two fellow Somali models Amina Adan and Ikram Abdi Omar, who was also at ISA, the trio were praised globally for representing black Muslim women.

‘It was a monumental occasion,’ added Halima. ‘It’s such an exciting time because representation is everything, it’s important to me and so many Muslim girls who never had that.

‘I want them to think “Oh I can do that now” or “I can go out and do this now”. It’s not enough yet but it’s something.

‘In modelling there’s like 10 hijabis and even with designers, there are more emerging and I have so much faith in the next five to ten years.’

Last year, Halima was filmed having a conversation with her mum, who had reservations about her daughter’s fashion career. When asked how she navigates resistance from older and conservative members of the community, the model said it’s about open discussion.

‘I had the chance to explain why it’s so important to me,’ she explains. ‘That conversation is so important.

‘In the beginning, I faced a little bit of criticism because people didn’t understand modelling or fashion. Because it’s a different culture, it’s not a Somali thing.

Halima Aden says its an exciting time to be a Muslim woman at ISA
Maya Jama who is half Somali also hosted an award (Picture: Ali Naji)

‘But explaining why it’s important for anyone growing up in America who looks like me is a crucial conversation. My mum understood that and its impact.

‘I’m not just a model either and that’s helped with the elder community, like my work with UNICEF, I’ve not forgotten where I came from.’

She adds that it’s easier to be a visibly Muslim woman in the US now because people are not as scared about the hijab – but there’s still a long way to go.

From her mostly positive experiences, she says people only question her beliefs from a point of wanting to be educated, not from hate.

She left us with a message for young Somali or other Muslim girls in the homeland or the diaspora: ‘I like to give the advice my mama gave me: “When you stay true to yourself, you really can’t go wrong”.

‘So be authentic to who you are and your values. Never spread yourself too thin to fit into a mould. Be fiercely you, unapologetically yourself.’

Wise words.

Magical bean bag onesie lets you sit wherever you go

You know that creeping feeling of dread when you realise you’ll need to stand for a prolonged period of time?

All the chairs in the pub are taken. The gig is standing, but it’s 8pm and the support act aren’t even on yet. Your manager thinks standing meetings are better for productivity and ‘active thinking’.

These are terrible moments, but thankfully, there’s now a solution.

Behold the bean bag onesie – an all in one outfit that gives you a comfy seat wherever you go.

ThinkGeek, where the stylish item is sold, describe the onesie as ideal for times when you’re waiting in line for midnight premieres, product launches, and meet-and-greets, but we say: why stop there?

We could wear this all day, every day.

No more staring at someone until they give you their seat on the Tube. No more human interactions where you have to force yourself to stand and chat, as if you’d not rather be lounging.

It’s designed in green cotton, so is the perfect option for every occasion – work, parties, funerals. You’ll be able to sit wherever you please, and thus be the envy of all those who behold you.

Just make sure you’re not pals with any ne’er-do-wells who will think it’s ‘funny’ to snip a hole in your seat and watch all the beans fall out. You don’t need those kind of people in your life.

If you fancy buying this fashion-forward creation, you can do so for the price of $89.99 (£69).

Alternatively, pick up a bean bag from Ikea and sew it on to an outfit of your choosing. There’s really no need to stand when you could be sitting.

Moschino Is Releasing A Sims-Inspired Fashion Line
(Picture: Moschino)

We lost hours of our lives in the noughties glued to screens playing iconic simulation game The Sims.

From battling constant kitchen fires to drowning in the garden pool, the lives of our Sims were nothing if not dramatic.

And now we can reignite our love for the Simlish-speaking beings with Moschino’s latest fashion line.

The Italian brand’s latest capsule collection draws from the 2D design of the classic video game. And, to add to to the simulated authenticity – everything is pixelated.

The collection is classic Moschino – with gaudy 90s influences, heavy gold chains, and quilted leather. The best news is that the designs have been called ‘ready to wear’, which means that a couple of the pieces might actually be within your budget.

Maxis, the creators of The Sims, teamed up with Moschino lead designer Jeremy Scott to create the range. It will be launched at Scott’s annual Palm Springs Desert Party – which sounds amazing.

From shirt dresses to oversize t-shirts and body suits, the collection comes as The Sims is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary next year.

One of the best things about the collection has to be the inclusion of the plumbob – the signature green floating diamonds above their heads.

Moschino has emblazoned this symbol on an umbrella and a bathing suit, or you can wear them as earrings.

The Sims will also be able to wear at least one item from the collection, a Freezer Bunny hoodie, in The Sims universe.

But we can’t wait to finally dress like Sims rather than dressing Sims up like ourselves.

Stuck between a size 10 and a size 12? Next has launched ‘in-between’ jeans to solve the problem

Next launches in-between jeans
(Picture: Next)

When it comes to buying jeans, the struggle is real: most shops have different sizing, and we often find ourselves only finding pairs that don’t fit quite right.

Doesn’t it suck when a size is slightly too big or small, but the other sizes don’t fit at all?

Well, we’re happy to announce that Next has come to the rescue – the retailer has just launched in-between jeans, so if a size 14 is too big but a size 12 is too small, a size 13 will save the day.

Next has launched jeans in sizes 11, 13, 15 and 17.

The new sizes were launched following customer feedback, and the brand has decided to trial the in-between sizes for three of its top jeans styles – Skinny, Slim and Bootcut, as well as its £20 chino trousers.

(Picture: Next)

‘Next are always looking for ways to help women feel amazing in what they wear,’ the retailer said in a press release.

‘After spending time with our customers and listening to their feedback, we have decided to trial in-between sizes in some of our favourite jeans and tailoring pieces to ensure that we are offering them the best fit possible.

‘To start with, we will introduce sizes 11, 13, 15 and 17, and hope to roll this out in more sizes and styles soon.’

The fashion retailer is currently selling six different pairs of £22 jeans available in the in-between sizes.

This includes Next’s Skinny Jeans in Dark Blue, Slim Jeans in Dark Blue and Forever Black and White, and Bootcut Jeans in Forever Black and White.

The £20 chino trousers also come in the new sizes, in shades of khaki, rust, grey, striped and white.

Though we’re pleased with the current selection on offer, the brand will also be releasing more styles at the end of April.

What a time to be alive.

ASOS comes under fire for deactivating customers’ accounts

(Picture: ASOS)

Earlier this month, ASOS announced that it would be cracking down on serial returners in a bid to fight against fraud.

The brand explained it would be deactivating accounts that had a suspicious number of returns, to stop those taking advantage of the policy.

However, this week ASOS’ social media has been flooded with complaints from customers who claim to have had their accounts wrongly closed.

People have been taking to Twitter and Facebook to express their anger – especially ‘serial returners’ who said they have only made two orders in the space of a year.

One person wrote: ‘ASOS how do you justify deactivating my account due to “a high number of returns” when I rarely order from you and my last two orders have been 10 months apart?

‘If I only ordered from you in December 2019 and before then in January 2018, how can I possibly be a serial returner of items?’

(Picture: ASOS)

Another woman said it was a ‘disgusting way to treat loyal customers’, while a bride-to-be issued a warning to other brides looking to buy their bridesmaids dresses on ASOS.

She said: ‘Just so you know if you are a bride and you want to order bridesmaids dresses on here I wouldn’t do that unless you want your account deactivated.

‘ASOS is now deactivating a lot of people’s accounts for returning too many items.

‘They won’t listen to the reason why you returned the items, you just get deactivated and ignored. A few brides I know have had their accounts deactivated and have all received the exact same email when trying to explain why they returned the items.

‘This is an online shop, how are you meant to try things on without being scared to lose your account?’

Facebook users aren’t the only ones who are angry. People have also been taking to Twitter to complain that their accounts have been deleted, despite having genuine reasons for their returns.

Customers were warned of the changes at the beginning of the month, when ASOS decided to update its returns policy.

Alongside extending the initial returns period, the retailer wrote: ‘We also need to make sure our returns remain sustainable for us and for the environment, so if we notice an unusual pattern, we might investigate and take action. It’s unlikely to affect you, but we wanted to give you a heads up.

‘If we notice an unusual pattern of returns activity that doesn’t sit right: e.g. we suspect someone is actually wearing their purchases and then returning them or ordering and returning loads – way, waaay more than even the most loyal ASOS customer would order – then we might have to deactivate the account and any associated accounts.’

Metro.co.uk contacted ASOS for a comment and the retailer responded:

‘With almost 20 million customers around the world, the business reached a size where we had to make a decision about our free returns offer,’ ASOS tells Metro.co.uk.

‘We could either begin to limit the offer in some way, or we could start to investigate the very small number of customers, a fraction of 1% in fact, who seem to be taking extreme advantage of our free returns service.

‘We chose to protect this amazing proposition, as well as increase the time to return unwanted items to us to 45 days, but we do understand that for the very, very small number of people impacted, there are some who are going to be upset.

‘We apologise for any confusion that our new policy has caused and want to assure the vast majority of our customers that they have nothing to worry about. We will also be introducing an appeals process as well as a warning email to make sure that the few people impacted are not caught by surprise or feel they have been unfairly treated.’

Would you buy this ASOS dress that looks like bubble wrap for £68?

The humble dress can take on so many forms. We saw the dress that looked like a bin bag, the one that had major Friar Tuck vibes, and the one with vulva energy.

There are lots of weird items of clothing and we’re sure there’ll be even more to come.

At the moment, we’re scratching our heads at this dress that looks as if it’s been inspired by bubble wrap.

The Jaded London all over sequin mesh beach dress, which is see-through, is on offer for £68 on the ASOS website.

On the website, it explains: ‘Inspired by global street-style from East London to LA and New York, super-cool streetwear label Jaded London provides your fix of pretty prints and techno fabrics.

‘If Beyonce’s done it head-to-toe then you know you’re onto a good thing.’

We’re not sure when Beyonce used bubble wrap to dress up but apparently, you too could look like her in the sequin-embellished design.

Those who posted about the garment on social media agreed that it certainly had the bubble wrap vibe.

On the plus side though, as the dress is transparent, it gives a nice chance to show off a chic bra and underwear ensemble.

It might even be perfect for festival season.

If you are a fan then you might want to hold off until it’s on sale perhaps as it’s now £68.

If you’re on a budget, you might want to head to the stationary cupboard and pull out some good old bubble wrap and tape instead.

Summer is coming, which means it’ll soon be time for shorts and vests, and we can’t wait.

But if you’re wanting to wear something a little more out-there and eye-catching, ASOS’ new green mesh unitard might just be perfect for you.

Totally see-through, the Motel Mesh Shorts Unitard costs £35.

The lime mesh unitard features a high neck design, a scoop back, a bodycon fit and a ‘tight cut to the body’. Which is pretty obvious.

ASOS is selling a neon green unitard which is completely see-through and shoppers are horrified Provider: ASOS Source: https://www.asos.com/motel/motel-mesh-shorts-unitard/prd/11516620?clr=lime-mesh&SearchQuery=&cid=7618

The product description reads: ‘Inspired by vintage prints and cuts, Motel are renowned for creating well-crafted pieces in an eclectic mix of designs. Embracing the feminine silhouette; look out for statement party dresses in bold prints, with heavy embellishment and feminine detailing.’

The model pairs it with a black bralette and high waist underwear below the unitard, but you could go with green if you’re wanting to draw less attention.

One Twitter user spotted the unitard, and shared it online captioning it ‘Asos, what the hell’

What the hell indeed.

In other bizarre ASOS fashion news, the fashion retailer is selling what looks like a dress which looks like it’s been made out of bubble wrap for £68.

The Jaded London all over sequin mesh beach dress, which, much like the neon unitard is see-through, is on offer for £68 online.

On the website, it explains: ‘Inspired by global street-style from East London to LA and New York, super-cool streetwear label Jaded London provides your fix of pretty prints and techno fabrics.

‘If Beyonce’s done it head-to-toe then you know you’re onto a good thing.’

Honestly, £68 for a dress that looks like it’s been made out of bubble wrap is a lot. We might as well just make our own.

Showing your bum in buttless chaps is a massive trend over at Coachella

We are truly devastated to report that there have not yet been jantie sightings at Coachella.

But do not panic, festival fashion followers: attendees have found another way to display large portions of their buttcheeks.

A trend has emerged from the first festival of the season, and that trend is for chaps. Or, to be more specific, buttless chaps.

Now, we must be honest: buttless chaps are not a brand new thing. They were spotted at Coachella last year, too, to the point that PrettyLittleThing marketed their festival collection with a cow print set.

This year, however, the trend has gone into overdrive.

Blame Kacey Musgraves, the massive popularity of Old Town Road, the Yeehaw Agenda, or simply a growing ennui with jorts, but everyone from James Charles to Vanderpump Rules’ Scheana Shay has been spotted at ‘Chella sporting a pair of chaps.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwN-k_ogrxT/

There are plenty of ways to wear the chaps trend, depending on precisely how much buttock you’d like to show.

Some have worn their buttless chaps over a matching thong for full exposure, while other influencers have opted for denim shorts underneath for a bit more coverage.

Pairing chaps with cowboy boots – or choosing a boot/chap hybrid – is applauded, and a cowboy hat will get you extra style points.

We’d advise against the plastic chaps we spotted model Megan Pormer in. Just think of the sweat and condensation of desert temperatures.

But really, as long as a little bit of bum is on display and you’ve got your haw nailed for whenever someone says yee, you’re doing the Chapchella trend right.

We’ve copied some inspiration for you below.

M&S is selling a £25 dupe of the Victoria Beckham dress worn by Meghan Markle

Attention, fans of Meghan Markle’s pregnancy style, followers of Victoria Beckham’s designs, and all those who just fancy a new addition to their wardrobe.

Marks & Spencer is set to sell a skirt that’s the perfect dupe for a Victoria Beckham print worn by Meghan Markle at the Commonwealth Day Service back in March.

In case you don’t have a photographic memory when it comes to each and every outfit the Duchess of Sussex has ever worn, let’s do a quick recap.

On 11 March – one of Meghan Markle’s final public appearances before she gives birth – Meghan was spotted wearing a chain-print shirt dress designed by Victoria Beckham.

(Picture: Karwai Tang/WireImage)

The dress was pretty dreamy, pairing neutral black and white shades with an easy-to-wear chain link print. Of course, it sold out pretty quickly after Meghan’s appearance, but at £1,668 it wasn’t exactly an option for the average person.

That’s why we’re excited to note that Marks & Spencer is releasing a skirt with a similar print, at a far more affordable price point of just £25.

While the Victoria Beckham print shows chains, the M&S print has ropes in a similar twisted position, and uses the same colour palette of cream and black.

This M&S skirt is just £25 (Picture: Marks and Spencer)

The M&S skirt is a soft A-line shape so it’s super flattering, and can be dressed up or down.

If you’d like to recreate Meghan’s look on the cheap, you’ll need to pair the skirt with a matching rope print top, a cream coat, and a hat.

The skirt hasn’t hit stores just yet, but expect a frenzy the moment it does. If Meghan wears something, it’s guaranteed to be a full-on trend.

Cowboy boots hit Coachella hard, and will soon be yeehawing their way into your shoe cupboards

Cowboy boot trend Coachella
Welcome to the yee yee club (Picture: Getty)

There’s a new boot in town to replace the humble Wellington boot, and it’s saying ‘this festival ain’t big enough for the both of us’.

Coachella attendees have gone crazy for the Western look this year, and are getting the cowboy boot trending in a big ol’ way.

It certainly makes sense for the style to be proliferating at the California festival given the climate. Whereas here in the UK music lovers have to grapple with mud and rain, the Coachella Valley weather is dusty and extremely dry; prime cowboy country.

We’ve also seen an explosion in country music in popular culture lately, with Cardi B getting her chaps on for her Thotiana remix video and Lil Nas X releasing summer’s ultimate banger Old Town Road with a version including king of country himself Billy Ray Cyrus.

Kacey Musgraves also took home four Grammy Awards this year, and her own Coachella performance (where she asked the audience to say haw when she said yee, only for them to get a little over-excited and haw too early) went viral.

The trend is being called ‘yeehaw agenda’ on Twitter, and is thought to have also blown up after sheriff memes did the rounds last year and A Star Is Born graced our screens.

Cowboy boots are one of the easiest ways to get a little bit country, and can be paired with the midi dresses and skirts that everyone is loving this season.

These Kelsey boots from Ego are a pair Musgraves would be proud of, or you can go for something a little more conservative and classic – and vegan – from Free People.

Somewhere in the middle are the snake print offerings from & Other Stories, which would look unreal with something floaty and feminine (or a pair of daisy dukes once the sun comes up).

Everyone at Coachella is wearing chainmail and we love it

This year’s skimpy statement look (Picture: Getty)

What’s the best outfit to wear in the blistering sun of the Californian desert?

Metal of course. Boiling hot metal directly against your naked flesh.

But when it comes to the world of Coachella influencers – comfort isn’t exactly high on their list of priorities. Right at the top of that list – looking amazing of course.

And chainmail seems to be one of the most popular looks this year.

You know chainmail – tiny pieces of metal linked together to form a hard-wearing kind of mesh, normally worn by medieval knights under their suits of armour.

But fashionistas have given chainmail a sexy makeover. And now it’s less Game of Thrones and more skimpy bralettes and barely-there skirts.

These looks might be slightly on the impractical side – the chance of nipple slippage is high – but we have to admit, it’s a good look.

Adding a splash of metallic hardware to your festival outfit instantly toughens it up and adds some shimmer without having to resort to tired old sequins.

And it is definitely a more wearable Coachella look than butless chaps.

This cute chainmail skirt livens up the drapey, black maxi underneath. We love the edition of the pendant jewels hanging from the metal, which gives the outfit a softer, ethereal feel.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwTBX9XA5vt/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

The very definition of barely-there, the halter chainmail top is a very popular choice. We like the big, teardrop discs that make up this look and the gold chain fringing.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwTAdJ6JNuA/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Matching your outfit exactly to your facial jewels is surely an influencer’s dream – and this golden look is glowing like the sun.

The golden squares of the chainmail top are gorgeous, but skimpy – and this woman has wisely decided to wear a nude bikini underneath for that added touch of security.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwTa-N6gGcN/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Team your chainmail with rainbow lycra – because when else are you going to get to make such a bold statement with your outfit?

We love the dangly chains hanging from this top and can imagine that the swishing motion will be quite dramatic when the dancing starts.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwSrUvqBk6N/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Simplicity is key here, we love the combination of the metallic silver with the nude of the suede skirt. Add a wide-brimmed hat and a demure smile and you’ll be Instagram-ready.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwTkOknHKD_/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

If a skirt or a top isn’t enough for you, opt for an entire chainmail dress. You can drape it over hot pants or cycling shorts.

We love the delicate jewelling of this piece.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwTU4NOh5V7/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Another big look from Coachella is mesh. Team a mesh crop top with a chainmail bikini top like the woman in the middle right of this picture – and you’ll get double the cool points.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwTZ5IEgJLY/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Get your bestie to jump on the chainmail bandwagon too – and you can be shimmering twins. This combination of metal, leather and chokers is utterly bad ass.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwSwGvRgqp6/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

This bikini top is one of our faves because the giant shards of crystal will make you look like a window into another world.

Teamed with a sheer crop top and a simple denim skirt – this is a perfect example of how chainmail can be both dainty and tough.

Forget flower crowns and crop tops, you just need a bit of tape for the perfect Coachella outfit

tape outfits are all the rage at Coachella festival

Festival-goers seem to have a bit of an aversion to clothes. And we get it – it’s hot, you want to pack light, and show off those sweet, toned bodies.

As images of pretty people partying it up at Coachella swarm in, we’re noticing a few racy trends: bums, boots, and boobs are all the rage.

To achieve the ultimate festival look, attendees are using a bit of tape instead of, you know, clothes.

Tapes being used in lieu of swimsuits isn’t a new idea. Last year tape bikinis became a catwalk trend after Miami designer Joel Alvarez came up with the Black Tape Project.

Now models, influencers and the like have taken the colourful tape to California.

The look consists of using the sticky stuff to create intricate designs around the body, topped off with the ubiquitous bit of glitter.

It might look good but wearers will probably be picking glitter off their bits for weeks.

(Picture: blacktapeproject)

Joel, who goes by Kingoftape on Instagram, has shared some of the looks he’s helped to create.

Fans of his work were seen sporting tape glitter ensembles at Ultra Festival in Miami last week and the trend has now spread to Coachella.

Those who used the metallic and chrome tape didn’t seem to mind being exposed or the tan lines that came with it.

But we have some questions: What happens when you sweat? How do you go to the toilet? Is it painful to rip the tape off afterwards? Are there larger roles of tape in case you want to dabble in the trend but not get quite as naked?

A tape bikini requires some bravery
(Picture: blacktapeproject)

Joel’s 369,000 Instagram followers don’t seem to have those concerns, as many praised the fierce looks.

His ‘artistic medium’ as he calls it, however, has received some criticism from those who said it’s misogynistic.

Some felt his tape art objectifies women. One person wrote: ‘Isn’t this just a ploy to have women at the beach practically naked for men to drool at?’

Another wrote: ‘The moment these trends stop being alternative methods of female objectification, is the moment they’ll actually make sense.’

Whatever you think of the designs, Joel is making some serious money off the medium, charging anywhere between £19 to £53 for one roll of tape.

If you are a fan of the look, you could probably create your own design for much, much cheaper.

Just grab that tape from the kitchen drawer.

If you watched Total Wipeout, you know you wanted to be part of the action-packed adventure. Now you can.

When The Monster – a giant inflatable obstacle course – came to London last year, it blew up. And now it is set to return.

The 300-metre course, dubbed ‘the craziest bouncy castle in the world’ debuted at Alexandra Palace and it will now come back for a short residency in August.

You can expect to see 42 obstacles which include an 18-metre long Mega Slide and the Bouncy Cage of Doom.

For the brave, there’s even a terrifying House of Hell.

Though it’s usually for adults (why should kids have all the fun?), the obstacle course will be open to youngsters aged between seven and 15 on two set days.

But step aside, children, the rest of the time this game is for grownups.

‘At 300 metres long, The Monster is the world’s largest inflatable obstacle course and it’s bigger, better, bouncier and more bonkers than ever before! This ain’t no ordinary bouncy castle folks,’ reads the website.

And there are new additions for 2019: Drag Queen Karaoke, Boozy Bingo, Mega Beer Pong, and the Wheel of Glitter.

To top it all off, the day is complete with live DJs, an inflatable unicorn (hello, new Insta pic), flamingo ball pits, and of course delicious street food, cocktails, bubbles and craft beers.

Bride is urged to burn ‘awful’ wedding dress after sharing photos on Facebook

When it comes to weddings, people on the internet can get pretty judgmental.

Anyone sharing their dress code or dining spread should be ready for some nasty comments.

Sometimes those honest opinions can be a helpful barometer in the decision making process. After all, it’s better that strangers on the internet say they hate your choice of wedding song than regretting it on the big day.

But that doesn’t make receiving the feedback a particularly pleasant experience.

Spare a thought for this poor bride, then, whose photos of her gown led to a bunch of comments telling her to burn her dress until there was nothing left.

The woman took to a Facebook group to ask whether she should put an inlay in her dress or leave the middle section sheer.

She wrote: ‘Is anyone selling wedding shoes size 8.5 or know of a place that sells them cheap that will look good with my dress?

(Picture: Facebook)

‘Also opinions on the middle of my dress… do I put an inlay in or leave it as it is (see through)…’

Rather than offering much input on alterations to the dress, members of the group rushed to tell the bride to throw the whole thing away, labelling the gown a ‘trainwreck’.

One person wrote: ‘Burn it. Just burn it.’

Another said: ‘The only redeeming factor to me is the neckline but it looks like someone cut up six different dresses and stuck them together.’

Many members explained that their comments weren’t personal, and that the dress simply wouldn’t suit anyone who wasn’t ‘six foot tall with the body of Elle Macpherson’.

‘I feel like Jessica Rabbit, a cartoon character, is the only one who could wear this oddly cut dress,’ one woman said. ‘Like… this wouldn’t even go well on Barbie’s figure.’

(Picture: Facebook)

Some suggested that if the bride couldn’t ditch the dress entirely, they could make it a touch better by adding an inlay to make the section over the waist opaque, or by tweaking the waistline.

Others have urged the woman to question her friends’ honesty, as a good pal would advise her to choose a different dress the moment she put this one on.

Now, we don’t think the dress is outrageously heinous, and if the bride feels comfortable and confident in it she should go ahead and rock it. A great wedding dress is one that makes you feel good, and it’s okay to change it up if you buy one option and then regret it.

But the key, as with most things, is to listen to your own feelings rather than taking internet comments to heart. If you love a dress, ignore the haters and wear it.

ASOS launches modest fashion range with Muslim model showing off hijabs and dresses

ASOS has launched a modest collection

ASOS is the latest brand to embrace modest fashion after H&M made the move last year.

The retailer said the modest clothing industry is worth over $240 billion (£184m) and wants to make it more mainstream.

The Verona Collection – which sells in Macy’s stores in the U.S – has been shown off on a Muslim model who tweeted the news.

Asha Mohamud, a mental health and beauty blogger, became a model for the brand, wearing hijabs and long dresses on the site.

For those who don’t know, the term modest fashion describes clothing that is on-trend yet relatively covered. It can include hijabs and burqas as well as tops, trousers, cardigans and dresses that feature a modest cut.

Asha was applauded, as well as ASOS, on social media for making leaps in modest fashion representation.

Founded by fashion photographer Lisa Vogl and fashion designer Alaa Ammuss, who struggled to find modest fashion at an affordable price, the Verona Collection began with a small investment.

A few months after launch, the founders partnered with British entrepreneur and philanthropist Hassan Mawji to grow the collection.

Verona Collection’s Director Hassan Mawji said: ‘Our partnership with ASOS marks a big milestone for Verona and the modest fashion industry – we’ve carefully curated this collection with ASOS and we’re excited about the opportunities this opens up’.

The collection also includes plus size options

The collection will include a variety of hijabs, modest tops, dresses and trousers that range from £11 to £55.

Asha debuted some of the range on her Instagram where she wrote: ‘Catch me rocking my hijab on ASOS’s new modest collection, just in time for Eid!’

Her posts got thousands of likes and comments, both on her Instagram and Twitter.

After other brands like Nike which introduced its Pro Hijab line and Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY and Dolce & Gabbana who have also embraced modest fashion, we’re excited to see which other labels follow.

Boohoo is selling a ‘butterfly kimono’ and it’s ridiculously extra

(Pictures: Boohoo/Getty)

A kimono is a garment defined in the dictionary as ‘a long, loose traditional Japanese robe with wide sleeves, tied with a sash’.

There are some outlets that just don’t play by the rules, however, and will be looser than the standard kimono with both the truth and their fabrics.

Boohoo are one such outlet, and have truly gone all in with their ‘Holly Butterfly Beach Kimono’, perhaps creating one of the most extra pieces of clothing we’ve seen in a while.

Generally, beach cover-ups are designed to give your skin some respite from the hot sun while keeping you cool. Granted, the Holly will keep your wrists and neck in the shade, but not much else.

The online fashion retailer say it should help to give you ‘plenty of poolside pizazz’, and that certainly seems true.

Just imagine flouncing down the beach with a frozen margarita in hand, looking like your third husband just died in ‘mysterious circumstances’. Isn’t that what we all look for from a summer vaycay?

The kimono comes in white or black (and for only £6 too) although you’ll have to buy a bikini separately.

As an alternative to a bikini, you could also take notes from this weekend’s Coachella festival and opt for an all-tape outfit underneath your butterfly wings. Although the tape would probably come off if you weren’t for a dip, this was never about practicality to begin with.

Bride says her niece isn’t welcome at her wedding if she wears a superhero costume

What to wear to a wedding is a tricky question.

You have to check all the dress codes, make sure your outfit will look lovely in pictures, and speedily decide if there’s too much white in your dress.

When it comes to getting children dressed for the occasion, things can get even tougher.

After all, when a child decides they don’t want to wear the outfit you carefully picked out, there’s no convincing them otherwise. And if they find something they want to wear non-stop, you’ll need a lot of luck to get them to change into something more situation appropriate.

So spare a thought for this family who are battling it out over one little girl’s desire to wear a superhero costume to her aunt’s wedding.

A bride has lashed out online about her niece’s choice of outfit for her wedding – a red and blue satin design with a large gold star on the front, to make the wearer look like a mini Captain Marvel.

The bride wrote: ‘Was at the soon-to-be-in-laws today and they chose this dress for my fiancé’s niece.

A photo shows the little girl wearing a captain marvel inspired dress
(Picture: Facebook)

‘I told them to keep shopping. Do people really not understand what to wear to weddings?’.

The bride’s comments were shared in a wedding shaming Facebook group, sparking debate over whether the bride was in the right to kick off about her niece wearing a superhero outfit to the wedding.

Some sided firmly with the bride: ‘You have to be such a narcissistic adult to allow your precious little princess to do this,’ wrote one.

Others questioned what was so wrong about the dress, suggesting the stars actually made the outfit look quite jazzy and wedding appropriate.

There’s a big debate still going on in the comments about whether the child is just a guest or part of the wedding party. The general consensus seems to be that if she’s a bridesmaid or similar she should wear what the bride wants, as she’ll be in all the pictures, but if she’s just a guest she can wear whatever superhero outfit she likes.

One woman commented: ‘Unless the kid is in the wedding does it really matter what they wear? They’re going to be bored, wanting to leave the entire time and probably not participating in much. I don’t see how it would impact anything to let them wear something fun and comfortable.’

Another said: ‘Okay but is it possible here that – bear with me – the grandparents got this dress thinking “this is a lovely dress!” without any realisation of it being a superhero inspired outfit?

‘That it might actually be a pretty dress, and the only reason people are losing their minds is because they KNOW it’s a superhero themed one?

‘If OP didn’t know it was superhero related, would she still be as upset, or is this purely being deemed inappropriate because of the stigma that comes with dressing up as a character?’

No one thought the outfit was justification to un-invite the niece from the wedding.

But what do you think?
